Malayalam Cine Technicians Association ( MACTA ) is registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act XII of 1956. Its register number is ER 282/94. The association has three categories of memberships, Life, Active and Associate. Any professional film technician, above 18 years of age, working independently in Malayalam cinema in any of the technical categories, mentioned below, with three released Malayalam films to his credit is eligible for life or Active member ship. Any assistant or associate working with an independent technician and with three released Malayalam films to his credit is eligible for an Associate membership.

- MAKE-UP ARTIST
- FILM PUBLICITY DESIGNER
- P.R.O
- COSTUME DESIGNER
- CHOREOGRAPHER
- PRODUCTION MANAGER
- FILM LABORATORY COLOR CONSULTANT
- SCREENPLAY WRITER
- DUBBING ARTIST
Apart from the above, every year MACTA confers Honorary Memberships to three eminent persons for their lifetime achievement and outstanding contribution to any aspect of Malayalam cinema. Recently MACTA has also started to give Temporary membership for one year for those who start working independently for a film, in any of the technical categories mentioned above. But temporary members are not eligible for participating in the activities associated with the running of the Association.
